Many campgrounds are built from more than one source. When that happens the app lists each contributor on the campground's own screen, so you can see exactly where a record came from.

State agencies
State park, wildlife and recreation data is published by individual state agencies. Camp Out includes open data from the following, among others:
- Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
- Indiana Geographic Information Office
- Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management
- South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks
- Texas Water Development Board
- West Virginia Division of Natural Resources
State park campgrounds are credited to the agency for their state on each campground's screen in the app.
Maps and navigation
Map display and directions are provided by Google Maps on Android and by Apple Maps on iOS. Their terms apply to the map itself, separately from the campground information Camp Out supplies.
Campers
People who use Camp Out can confirm a campground is open, correct details that are wrong, and suggest a better location for a pin. Contributions are shown without a name. Corrections are reviewed by a person before anything changes on the map.
