Why Camp Out

Dispersed camping, not just campgrounds

Most camping apps stop at developed sites with a reservation number. Camp Out carries more than eleven thousand dispersed sites — the pullouts, the forest roads, the places with no host and no sign.

The details that decide your night

Hookups and amperage. Maximum rig length. Whether the road in is paved, gravel or wants clearance. Toilets, water, showers, cell signal, whether fires are allowed right now. Answered before you commit to the drive.

It tells you when it doesn't know

A blank is never shown as a no. If nobody has told us whether a site has water, Camp Out says nothing rather than guessing — because a wrong yes is how you end up somewhere dry with an empty tank.

Sized for your rig

Put your length, height and weight in once and Camp Out flags the sites that won't take you, before you're committed to a road with nowhere to turn around.

Current, because campers keep it current

Agencies update slowly. A gate closed in March can take until autumn to reach a federal database. Campers confirm what's open, flag what isn't, and fix what's wrong — and a person checks every correction before it reaches the map.
